Montana Fly Fishing

Rivers are still looking pretty good. High but clear, for the most part. Blackfoot has a little color. But fishing pretty good subsurface. Good chance at some quality fish but not really numbers, unless your on your game. Worms, Streamers, and rubber leg stuff. No rocket science here. Bonus is getting away from the crowds.
Root continues to give it up. But the window just depends on the wind and daily temp. When it turns on its almost like a light switch. Somewhat steady then all the sudden lights out. And when its lights out you can be nymphing or fishing on top. It doesn’t matter. Keeping one eye peeled downstream will tell you when things are turning on.
Looking like weather wise we could have an extended spring fishing season. Temp’s at night will stay cool and looking overcast for at least the next week. These things also help the positive outlook for a good summer as flows go. Just seems the waders are getting a little more use this year. Hang in there. Be lapping on the sunscreen sooner or later.
